This article presents a sociological analysis of the crime of "obscene act" under the Brazilian Criminal Code. Through the Discourse Analysis, it intends to understand the jurists’ ideas of the body and obscenity, as well as how the authors of legal handbooks exemplify the behaviors considered as crime and how they justify certain prohibitions. Based on Feminist Theories and concepts of Sociology of the Body, the text aims to understand the relationships between body and power, in addition to identifying the necessarily dynamic - and subversive - potential of the social relations mediated by the body.
