This article explores the conception process of the empirical research entitled “Democratization of access to Justice and effectiveness of rights: Itinerant Justice in Brazil”, developed by Ipea-ProRedes program and a network of several institutions located all over the country. Besides Ipea, Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Escola da Magistratura da AJURIS (Rio Grande do Sul), Universidade Federal do Amapá (UNIFAP) and Instituto de Tecnologia e Pesquisa (ITP – Sergipe) have joined the group. This paper aims to present the main challenges faced during the conduction of this research project – not only in the
methodological design and data collection, but also through the analysis of the results. For this purpose, we describe the methodological design process and present its main shortcomings.
